The Distillery District is a historic neighborhood located in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Its history dates back to the early 19th century when it was established as the Gooderham and Worts Distillery. Founded in 1832, it quickly became one of the largest and most successful distilleries in Canada, producing whiskey, spirits, and industrial alcohol.

During its peak in the late 19th century, the Gooderham and Worts Distillery was a bustling industrial complex with numerous buildings, including warehouses, cooperages, and milling facilities. The distillery employed a significant number of workers and played a vital role in the local economy.

As time passed, changes in the alcohol industry and urbanization led to the decline of the distillery. In 1990, the distillery ceased its operations, and the site faced the threat of demolition. However, recognizing the historical and architectural significance of the buildings, a group of developers initiated a massive restoration project to transform the area into a unique cultural and entertainment district.
